Matt could have been the next Basil Fawlty, but for a call from a radio station three weeks before his Hotel Management degree finals at Portsmouth University (many moons ago!). Needless to say Matt flunked the exams and his career in radio was born. That station was the original Radio Victory, then one of only 15 commercial radio stations in the UK, and within a couple of years he had inherited the mid-morning show from Chrissie Pollard, who had been lured by the bright lights of television.
Since then, Matt’s voice has been a more or less constant presence across the south, on 2CR, Ocean FM, Wave 105 and BBC Radio Solent. He now presents Original Saturday Breakfast on Original 106, and combines his love of broadcasting with running his radio production company, which produces commercials heard on stations throughout the UK (including Original 106).
Matt is married to Victoria, who he met at an inter-radio station ten pin bowling match (to this day both insist that their team won!), and has two daughters, Rosie and Mabel. He loves music of most kinds (pretty much everything except Country and Western!), fine food and wine, movies, and at weekends can often be seen driving a lorry full of horses to Pony Club events.
His Saturday Breakfast show is the perfect start to the weekend, with a combination of fine music, news, travel, ideas on what to do over the weekend, and his unique music competition The Saturday Sample.
