The leading new university in the south has just become number one in the country.
Bournemouth University has leapt 41 places in the The Guardian University Guide for 2009 to take first place for excellence.
Vice Chancellor, Paul Curran, says Bournemouth's popularity is growing on a daily basis;
"We've tripled the number of people who attend our visit days, for example. And the number of applications we receive go up above the national average.
"The number of grant applications for research and so on have increased as well."
The University has beaten off competition from 60 other institutions, to become the best NEW University in the country.
Pro Vice Chancellor Paul Curran says Bournemouth can now compete on a global scale;
"Students oversees tend to see UK universities through the lens of league tables.
"Obviously, a university like Bournemouth that has improved by 42 places in the league tables over the last few years stands out." |
