Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil

Martyn Lee

Martyn was working for a radio station in Norwich when the Programme Controller said “get yourself a proper job, lad, don’t talk on the radio for a living”.  Back in those days there used to be recorded programmes on reel-to-reel tape which Martyn would turn up at highly unsociable hours to play out whilst the presenter was snugly wrapped up in bed!  Anyway, that early piece of advice was duly ignored and Martyn has now been broadcasting in the south for over 10 years.

Although he started off as a producer the day eventually arrived when there was absolutely nobody around to present the Boxing Day breakfast show and that was his ‘big break’.  He readily admits “I’m not saying it was bad, but on my way home I fully expected someone to arrest me for crimes against broadcasting”.

This week you can hear Martyn every day from 10am-2pm across the south on Original 106.

Martyn is engaged to the future Mrs Lee and, along with a very naughty cat, live in a little house by the seaside in Poole.
