What counties can Original Showcase acts come from?
Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. These are the counties Original 106fm broadcasts to. (See map)
What kind of music are you looking for?
We play the best from this region. If you listen to the Original Showcase for a couple of weeks you’ll get a good feel of what makes the play list. Also have a listen to the artists on this page and you’ll see what we like
Do I have to send a CD in?
Not at first. Why not send us a link to your MySpace page or web site and let us decide.
Can we send you an mp3
Not yet. See above.
Does my CD have to be professionally packaged?
Of course not. A silver CD, copied at home, with felt pen writing is acceptable. But remember these points.
- Make sure the copies of your songs come from the original master recordings and not mp3s.
- Supply as much additional information on a separate sheets of paper – track listing, biog, a photo and contact details. If it is all on the CD we’ll have nothing to read when it is in the player.
- Make sure the contact details are correct and that the person we call can answer questions for the act involved.
- The better the packaging more pleasing the experience for the listener but some of the best packing has gone to waste on poor music and some of the best songs have arrived on silver CDs.
When will you play our music?
As soon as we can. We’ll let you, or your contact, know when it’s is going to be on. Your e-mail address will go onto the showcase mailing list and you’ll know in advance when you’ll be on.
We sent a CD and have heard nothing.
We receive many CD’s so wait a couple of weeks and then get in contact by e-mail.
Do we just get one play?
No. We try and rotate al the artists we receive, hopefully your turn will come around again. However there is always FanPower…
What is FanPower?
After 9pm we play three songs chosen by listeners and fans. They send their requests during the show or in the week. The contact details are here….
How else can we get a mention?
Once you are on the mailing list just hit reply and tell us your news. Gigs, events, news of all sorts, even if you are recording something new or replacing that pesky drummer it adds to the show and keeps your name in the listener’s mind.
